It’s fitting that on the same day we learned that Josh Uche won’t be returning to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2026, we also learned that Azeez Ojulari won’t be back with the Birds.

Ojulari is signing a one-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons, according to reports from NFL insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero. Ojulari notably grew up near Atlanta and attended college at Georgia, making this a homecoming for him.

The Eagles signed Ojulari in free agency last year for what was perceived to be a bargain deal. As it turns out, he was available for cheap for a reason. Ojulari had a mostly quiet offseason before beginning the 2025 season as a healthy scratch. Multiple edge rusher injuries finally forced him into playing time. He ultimately logged 67 defensive snaps and one special teams snaps before suffering a hamstring injury that caused him to finish the season on injured reserve.

When the Eagles signed Uche and Ojulari last year, they were probably hoping at least one of them could be a solid addition to their edge rusher rotation. But neither of them proved to be much of an answer. And now they’re both gone as the Birds look for more pass rush help ahead of the 2026 season.
